Robert L. Hutchison

XENIA Robert L. Hutchison, 78, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs. He was born September 8, 1935, in Beavercreek Township, Ohio, the son of J. Ersle and Grace Lile Hutchison. Bob has spent all his life engaged in farming, operating both a dairy and grain farm. Bob recently received recognition from the State of Ohio Agricultural Department for operating a "Century Farm" that has been in his family since 1897. For over 27 years, he served as a member of the Greene County Fair Board of Directors. Until his retirement, he drove a bus for Beavercreek Schools for 34 years and retired in 1988. Three or more generations of young people have participated in Eager Beavers 4-H Club that he and his wife Barbara have been advisors for over 50 years. Bob is a member of the Ohio 4-H Hall of Fame and served as a director of the Greene County Agricultural Society. For three three-year terms he was a representative to the Farm Service Agency of Greene County for Beavercreek and three other townships. He was a member of the Xenia Community Schools Hall of Fame, and was a big Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Throughout his life, "Hutch" influenced many youth and young adults through his work with 4-H, FFA, the Greene County Fair, and school busing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Wehrly) Hutchison, whom he married, September 15, 1956, a daughter and son-in-law, Gail (Michael) Mueller, and a son and daughter-in-law, Gary (Sandra) Hutchison, all of Xenia, four grandchildren, Kylie Mueller, Kolby Mueller, Wade Hutchison, and Michael Armitage, a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph (Jan) Hutchison, Jr., Xenia, several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Ralph Elbert "Bert" Hutchison. Graveside services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, Beavercreek. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greene County Youth Activity Fund, c/o Sheriff Gene Fisher, 120 E.
