XENIA — Robert G. Allen, 95, of Xenia, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at Hospitality Home East. He was born July 9, 1918, in Dorset, Ohio, the son of Austin and Rachel Leiby Allen. After graduating from high school, he came to work at WPAFB. He was drafted and entered the United States Air Force in World War II. He came back from the war to Wright Patterson and worked for 36 ½ years until retirement in 1978. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. As a youth, he was a mechanic on race cars that his buddies raced. He loved NASCAR. He married Mary J. Fudge in 1965. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister, and step-daughters, Virginia Ann Mason and Peggy Schwartz. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Merle Allen and Clifford Allen, a sister, Winnie Keep, 5 grandchildren, Robbie Mason, Jimmy Schwartz, Teresa King, Lara Dailey, and Kathy Lewis, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, April 26, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Kelley W. Shin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
