XENIA — Janet M. Neeld, age 75, passed away on June 27, 2014, at her home in Xenia surrounded by her family. She was the youngest daughter of Ruth and Estel Spurgeon. Janet was born June 18, 1939, in Leesburg, Ohio, and moved to Xenia in 1959. Janet graduated from Jefferson High School in Bowersville, Ohio, and then worked at National Cash Register in the Office Building. She attended Milligan College in Milligan College, TN, and then returned to Xenia and worked at the Citizen's First National Bank. Janet retired in 1999 from the Building Services Department of Greene County Government. She attended the First Church of Christ on Ledbetter Road in Xenia. Janet enjoyed her retirement by helping people in need, volunteering at Greene Memorial Hospital, and taking care of her flowers and yard, but mostly enjoying the company of many friends and family. Her retirement allowed her the time to visit with her children and grandchildren. Janet's boundless laughter and feisty nature kept her forever young. Her unconditional love and support touched many. She will live on through us in our memories and in our love and laughter. She is survived by two children, daughter Twila Neeld-Bracken (Pete) of Boston, VA; son Bruce A. Neeld and grandsons, Rowan A. Neeld and Birch T. Neeld, of Longmont, CO; sister Mary (Glen) Carter of Waynesville, Ohio, brother-in-law, Aubrey Woods, and by many beloved nieces, nephews, and stepchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Estel Spurgeon and her sisters Wilma (Tom) Blessing, Dottie Woods, Jody (Gene) Cameron, all from Xenia. A celebration of Janet's life will be held at 7pm, Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Neeld Funeral Home, with visitation from 5-7pm.
