XENIA — MSgt. Gerald D. "Jerry" Elliott, USAF, (Ret.) - "Jerry" passed away at the age of 71, on August 8, 2014. He was born January 18, 1943 in Ostradner, OH, the son of Henry D. and Jessie M. (Cumston) Elliott. He grew up in Delaware County, OH and upon graduating from High School enlisted in the military. After numerous stateside tours, three tours in West Germany and a tour in the Republic of Vietnam he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1984 after more than 23 years of honorable service. Among his many awards and decorations were the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Vietnamese Campaign Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars, the Republic of Viet Nam Gallantry Cross with Palm Leaf, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with One Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and The Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother and sister, and a Special Friend Janet E. Kennedy of Wilmington, oh. He is survived by: his son Sean C. Elliott (Melissa) of Dayton, OH; and daughter Brenda J. (Doug) DeGolyer, of FL, two granddaughters and numerous great grand children; a sister Norma (Dick) Wilde of Ashley, OH; a sister Carol Neville of Delaware, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no viewing. Private services and interment will be at the connivance of the family at the Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors.
