XENIA — Charles Slone - On July 25, 1934 Charles Slone was born in Knott County, Kentucky to the late Edward and Jean Slone. April 13, 1953, Charles got to marry the love of his life, Cordia Slone. A few short weeks after the two married, Charles joined the United States Army and served our country proudly. After his time of service, he was able to be reunited with his lovely bride. Charles and Cordia were blessed with five children. On September 3, 1989, Charles was baptized into Christ. His faith and love for the Lord continued to grow. Charles was an active deacon, treasurer, and secretary at the House of Prayer Baptist Church in Beavercreek, OH. He enjoyed studying and discussing scripture, as well as singing great hymns to our Lord. On August 18, 2014, Charles lost his battle with cancer. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his three sons, Charles (Ruth) Slone, Jr of Xenia, OH, Terry (Teresa) Slone of South Charleston, OH, Bob (Barb) Slone of Xenia, OH; two daughters, Betty (OC) Brown of Jamestown, OH, and Cathy (Jerry) McManamay of Springfield OH; one brother, Edward (Alma) Slone of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters, Irene (Ervin) Little of Bowling Green, KY, and Aileen (Denver) Blair of Banner, KY. Charles was also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Buford Slone; his sister, Fay Hall, and his grandson, Christopher Slone. While on this earth, Charles' final days were filled with health concerns, but no matter what happened he stayed true to his faith. And as hard as it is to say goodbye to such a great man, we can take comfort in knowing he is "home" with his Lord and Savior.
