CEDARVILLE — Martha E. Vest, age 81, of Cedarville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Friends Care Center in Yellow Springs. She was born February 18, 1933 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Chester "Chet" and Esther Smith Swaby. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 62 years: Paul "Abie" Vest, whom she married in 1952; children: Rick (Becky) Vest of Cedarville; Gary (Kathy) Vest of Yellow Springs; Mark (Lisa) Vest of Cedarville; and Jodi (Michael) Willeke of Ada, OH; grandchildren: Ryan Vest, Nicky Vest, Bryan (Andrea) Vest, Shane Vest, Jordan (EJ) Hawkins, Natalie (Brock) Moon, Kelsey Vest, Taylor Willeke and Blake Willeke; and great grandchildren: Dustin, Miyanna, Masin, Carson, Monet, Bailey, Lucas, Arlin, Avery and Ally; sister: Connie (Gene) Purdin of Cedarville; a special friend: Joan Long of Cedarville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to mention her compassionate caregivers, Bev Earnest and Marilyn Livingston. After graduating from Cedarville High School, Martha worked as a secretary at Wright Patterson AFB Area B. She had also worked as an auction clerk for 20 years. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and entertaining company. She loved attending and supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting events. She never missed a sporting event that involved her children and attended as many as possible for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha was a avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, and Duke Basketball. She was a faithful member of the Clifton United Presbyterian Church, where she had served as both secretary and deacon, and was also a member of the PYLA (Presbyterian Young Ladies Association.) Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 2 at Clifton Presbyterian Church, 183 N. Jackson St., Clifton with Pastor Arby Conn officiating. She will be interred at Massie Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church.
