XENIA Betty C. Hook of Xenia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013. She was born in Adams County on October 28, 1919 to Charles "Coop" and Myrta Sibrel Osman. In 1922, her mother passed away and she came to Xenia to live with her aunt and uncle, Clara and Shilo Osman in whose home she was reared. Betty married Donald Hook in 1940 and they were married for 68 years until his death in 2008. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Zelma Lewis, Yvonne Scott, Myrta Baird and one brother, Sherwood Osman; also, two grandsons Ryan Hook and Christopher Ruggieri. Betty is survived by two children, Dennis Hook of Spring Valley, and Carolyn Hook of Ormond Beach, FL; two grandsons, Rodney Hook of Kettering and Rhett (Lorraine) Hook of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Manessah and Nathaniel Hook of Phoenix; sister-in-law Helen Hook of West Jefferson, and a cousin and friend Joanne DeVoe of Xenia. She graduated from Xenia High School in 1937 and worked in the Greene Country Treasurer's office until her retirement in 1979. Betty was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 11am, Friday, January 11, 2012, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Thomas Hite officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am, Friday, until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 195 W. Third St., Xenia, OH, 45385. The family would like to especially thank the nursing staff and auxiliary of Greenewood Manor and Legacy Assisted Living for their excellent care and compassion.
