John J. Shaw

XENIA John J. Shaw, 90, of Xenia, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born October 20, 1922, in Sugarcreek Township, Ohio, the son of John H. and Effie Marie Stephens Shaw. He was a member of the Bellbrook Church of Christ, where he was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder of the church, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as an MP in the Panama Canal Zone during World War II. He was the former owner of Shaw Auto Wrecking, Xenia. He is survived by his wife, Rachel I. (Brown) Shaw, whom he married, October 23, 1943, three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis (William) Phillips, Wilmington, Gayol (Stanley) Michael, Xenia, and Jennie (Chuck) Dawes, Springboro, a son, Jerry Alan Shaw, Beavercreek, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, a brother, Frank Shaw, Xenia, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Deanna Lynn Shaw, a son, Kenneth Eugene Shaw, a daughter-in-law, Betty Shaw, two grandchildren, by three sisters, Helen Richardson, Marietta Freeland, and Roberta Swearingen, and by five brothers, Cecil Shaw, Richard Thomas Shaw, Jesse Paul Shaw, William Kenneth Shaw, and Lawrence S. Shaw. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
