XENIA Sherman Lee Reeves, 93 of Xenia, passed away Monday morning at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 1, 1920 in Spring Valley, Ohio, the son of John "Jack" & Bertha (Pennington) Reeves. Sherman proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy on the USS South Dakota. He was a car salesman for Chenoweth Motors; owned and operated Reeve's Market on North Detroit Street and later the S & S Beverage Dock. Sherman was great at telling war stories to his children and grandchildren. Sherman and Mary enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida for 27 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn McNamee, a sister Venita Parsons and a brother, Norman Reeves.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Brewer) Reeves, whom he married August 17, 1943, children Linda Reeves, Yellow Springs, Debbie (Steve) Guthrie, John (Patti) Reeves, Joyce (Bill) Lewis all of Xenia, Joe Reeves, Yellow Springs and Becky Reeves, Xenia, as well as 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. John Krumm officiating.
