DAYTON — James Warren Matthews, age 89, passed away Thursday January 30, 2014 in Dayton, Ohio. James was born May 31, 1924 in Spring Valley, Ohio the son of the late Raymond Lawrence Matthews and Grace Viola (Long) Matthews. James is preceded in death by his parents; a half brother: Harold; and a half sister: Hazel. James is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Melody Matthews; daughter: Patty Matthews Rogers; 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Ryan and Lindsay Matthews, Danny Matthews, Katy and Stephen Smith, Stephanie Howard and Justin Howard; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members. James was a Real Estate broker in Xenia at Matthews Teeters Reality for 33 years. James was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering and a member of the Lathrem Senior Center. James enjoyed playing cards and fishing. Memorial contributions can be made in James's name to Crossroads Hospice 8069 Washington Village Dr. Dayton, Ohio 45458. Graveside services will be held Monday February 3, 2014 at the Valley View Memorial Gardens Xenia, Ohio. Services are in care of McColaugh Funeral Home Inc. Xenia, Ohio.
