Susie Wooten

EAST BEND — Susie Matthews Wooten, 100, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Yadkin County to the late Joseph Frances "Frank Bill" and Eliza Jane Choplin Matthews. She was the oldest member of Prospect United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Chester Wooten; four sisters, Mae Matthews, Rosie Crissman, Vena Brown and Vermal Matthews; and three brothers, Baxter Matthews, Virgil Matthews and William Wesley Matthews. Surviving are her son, Joseph Wooten; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Prospect United Methodist Church by the Rev. Greg Gordon. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff of New Horizans Home Care for the help they provided and the loving care given to Mrs. Wooten.
