YORK Pauline E. 'Polly' (Spangler) Pyle, 73, died on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 6:20 a.m. at her residence. She was the wife of the late Jerry M. Pyle. There will be no viewing. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Messiah UM Church, 1300 N. Beaver St., York, with the service to follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Her pastor, the Rev. W. Michael Langford, will officiate with burial to follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., York is handling the arrangements. Mrs. Pyle was born July 31, 1937, in York, and was the daughter of the late Paul and Carolyn E. (Frey) Spangler. She was an elementary school teacher in York County for 20 years; a graduate of William Penn H.S. Class of ' 55 and Millersville State Teachers College Class of ' 59; a member of Messiah UM Church, the Shiloh American Legion Post # 791 Ladies Auxiliary, the York Hiking Club, the Viking A.A.; and an avid card player and world traveler. Mrs. Pyle is survived by a sister, Alice L. Frick and husband, Bernard of York; a son-in-law, Robert E. Peterson of York; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Debra L. Pyle Krantz and husband, Donald of Lititz and Dawn J. Pyle Manier and husband, Zane of Illinois. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Peterson; and a stepson, Jerry R. Pyle.
