YORK Earl R. Hagginbothom, 95, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Rest Haven York. He was the husband of Phyllis N. (Brownwell) Hagginbothom, to whom he was married for 64 years. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Road, York, with the Rev. Helen Osborne, former minister of visitation, and Pastor Don Hubbel officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born February 10, 1919, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Arthur N. and Blanche (Fretz) Hagginbothom, he was a 1937 graduate of Ambler High School and studied forestry at Penn State University. Earl was an electrician at Borg-Warner Inc., retiring in 1982. Earl was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, usher, and Boy Scout Leader. He was an active member of the Homebuilders S.S. Class. Earl also participated in several disaster relief trips to rebuild following a natural disaster. Mr. Hagginbothom is survived by two daughters, Rev. Nancy M. Jones and her husband, Stephen D. Jones, and Lynn M. Kinner, all of York; three grandchildren, Eric M. Jones and his wife, Rachel of Davie, Fla., Sarah M. Kennedy and her husband, Jesse of Spring Grove, and Benjamin S. Kinner of York; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Taylor Jones; and several nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hagginbothom; and two sisters, Elizabeth Gresick and Dorothy Gibson. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202; or to Disaster Relief, c/o First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Road, York, PA 17403.
