Hannigan, Jr. FELTON Walter "Junie" B. Hannigan, Jr. entered into rest after a lengthy illness on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at 1:15 a.m. at his residence at the age of 83. He was the husband of Donna Mae (Jones) Hannigan who entered into rest on Nov. 1, 2011. Born in Chanceford Twp. on Dec. 28, 1929, son of the late Walter B., Sr. and Annie R. (Shaull) Hannigan, Junie was a self-employed dairy farmer. He was a lifetime member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brogue, where he served as a former Superintendent of Sunday School and also served on the church council. Junie was a hard worker, even after he sold his dairy cows, he continued to work on the farm. He was a wonderful husband for 61 years to Donna Mae, a great father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by one son, Jerry D. Hannigan and companion Mark Cote of New Hampshire; three daughters, Joy D. Littell and husband John of Wexford, Penny M. Posey and husband Gerald of Brogue, and Stacy M. Leiphart and husband Stacy L. of Brogue; nine grandchildren, Craig, Carla and Jared Posey, Douglas, Katherine, Nicholas and Gregory Littell and Samantha and Allie Leiphart; three brothers, Earl Hannigan of Windsor, Lloyd Hannigan of Brogue and Paul Hannigan of Red Lion; a sister, Reba Berwager of Red Lion; and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church (formerly St. James Lutheran), 2335 Cramer Road, Brogue. The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with his pastor, Rev. Linda S. Trout, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2335 Cramer Road, Brogue, PA 17309 or the York Health Foundation, Cancer Patient Help Fund, 912 S. George St., York, PA 17403.

Junie will certainly be missed by many. I will miss his humor and smile at the "Gang" dinners when I visit PA.

Sorry to hear of the passing of your dad Penny. The world needs more farmers like Walter. He was truly a hard worker and will be missed. Very rare he wasen't outside doing something. Take care.
