YORK Hilda A. (Kline) Shaffer, 80, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012, at York Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Paul E. Shaffer. Together they shared over 59 years of marriage. Hilda was born on April 21, 1932, in Red Lion, and was the daughter of the late Sylvester Kline and Blanche (Waltermyer) Kline. She graduated from Lower Chanceford High School Class of 1949. She worked as a secretary for Associated Wholesalers, Danskin, and Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff, and retired in 2004. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Wolf's E.C.C. Church in West Manchester Township, where she was active in the Bell choir. She enjoyed baking, reading, and gardening, but cherished the time she spent with her husband and family. In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by her son, Bradley Shaffer and his wife, Lisa of York; and her granddaughter, Lauren Shaffer. She is also survived by her brother, Earl Kline and his wife, Joan of York; her sisters, Joyce Tomes and her husband, Nelson of Red Lion, and Julia Shaull and her husband, Kenneth of Red Lion; and her nieces and nephews. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Wolf's E.C.C., 4501 Wolf's Church Road, York, with Pastor Matthew Stillman officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at St. Paul Wolf's Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC of Spring Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Paul Wolf's E.C.C., 4501 Wolf's Church Road, York, PA 17408. Condolences may be shared at www.irwinbeck.com

Hilda was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She always was cheerful when I was around her and she cared deeply for Wolf's Church. I consider her, Paul and Brad great friends. She's in a beautiful place now and some day we will join her.

Bob and I were so saddened to hear of Hilda's suddent death. We always enjoyed talking with her at church. She was a faithful member of St.Paul's Wolf's ECC and will always be remembered for her friendliness and her wonderful homemade raspberry pies! May the good times and happy memories sustain and keep you all! She will be greatly missed!
