Hanson, Mary K.  
WRIGHTSVILLE Mary K. Hanson, 88, longtime resident of Steubenville, Ohio, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy. She was the wife of the late Richard L. Hanson. Mary was born June 24, 1927 in Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Mary E. (Shavinsky) Burke. She grew up in Steubenville and graduated nursing school from St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh. Mary then followed the family to Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked at City Hospital and met her husband. She stopped working with the arrival of their first son, Richard, followed by another son, Jerry three years later. After an eventful life living in several states, they returned to Steubenville to retire. She was an avid reader. Her passion was her children and grandchildren, her flowers and birds. On Richard's passing in 2009, Mary moved in with Jerry and his wife, Ellie in Wrightsville until her dementia required moving into an assisted care facility. She is survived by her two sons; their wives; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Patric. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the Chapel of St. Joseph Catholic Church 2935 Kingston Road, York. A visitation will be 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Hawbaker, M. Catherine  
NEWVILLE M. Catherine Hawbaker, 94, a resident at Green Ridge Village, Newville, passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2015, at the nursing home. Her husband, Rev. Laban Hawbaker, preceded her in death on July 16, 1999. Born March 26, 1921, in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Ruth Gettel Staver. Catherine was a member of Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg, where she enjoyed playing the piano for the youth department. She loved to knit, crochet and read. Catherine taught Sunday School and was in charge of the church's Bible School for a number of years. She also cooked at Rhodes' Grove Campground. She is survived by four children, Ray F. Hawbaker of Chambersburg, Margaret A. Klinger and husband, Ronald of York, Berniece K. Crider and husband, Max of Carlisle, and Sharon L. Lehner and husband, Steve of Germantown, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne L. Hawbaker; a brother, Arthur Staver; and a sister, Grace Keeseman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Prince Street United Brethren Church, 20 N. Prince St., Shippensburg. Pastor Richard Black will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Hinkle, Spurgeon M.  
YORK Spurgeon M. Hinkle, 94, died on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his home. He was the husband of Joann G. (Deitch) Hinkle. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. Born on January 24, 1921, in York, he was the son of the late Merl and Helen R. (Beam) Hinkle. He was an industrial specialist for the Defense Depot in Mechanicsburg. Spurgeon served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was also a 1939 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, the West York VFW Post 8951, and the White Rose Lodge #706 F&AM. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two nephews, Stephen Stough and his wife, Judy, and John Stough and his wife, Deborah, all of York. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Gregory D. Seckman, officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Masonic Services will be held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. Hershey, Larry L.  
MILLSBORO, DE Larry L. Hershey passed away peacefully in his home in Millsboro, Del. on June 25, 2015. He was born in North York on September 10, 1940, a son of Clyde and Orpha Hershey. He was a graduate of Central School. Larry retired from his shipper position at Svadala Industries (Koppers) after 39 years. He is survived by his wife, Joann E. (Wertz) Hershey; a sister, Virginia Treat; two sons, Scott L. Hershey and Lewis Fetrow; a daughter, Toni Glatfelter and spouse Dale; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry retired to Delaware where he spent his time boating and fishing in the bay. He loved to spend time with his friends and family. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. There will be a celebration of life held on July 11, 2015 at 2 p.m.-until at 2400 Brillhart Station Road, York, PA 17403.

BROGUE Karen J. (Klepper) Hileman, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at home. She was the loving wife of the late MSgt. James E. Hileman, Jr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with her pastor, the Rev. Tina M. Melusky officiating. A viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. Karen and James will be buried together in the veterans section at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born March 3, 1935, in Wardensville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Norman A. and Virginia O. (Miller) Klepper, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1995. Mrs. Hileman was a member of Brogue Lionesses Club, Super Group for military retirees where she had served as Secretary, and Grace Lutheran Church, Red Lion. Karen also spent many years teaching English for York Co. Literacy Council. Mrs. Hileman is survived by a daughter, Rachelle R. and husband Bart Kauffman of Delta; four sons, Rian S. and wife Karen Hileman of Rock Hill, S.C., James N. "Pete" Hileman of Inwood, W.Va., Gregory B. and wife Marianne Hileman of Red Lion, and Perry I. Hileman of Brogue; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Klepper of Nevada and Terry Klepper of Tennessee; and one sister, Iona Klepper of West York. Howard, Marion L.  
YORK Marion L. (Calhoun) Howard, 57, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, with her family by her side. She was the wife of Willie Howard, with whom she celebrated 36 years of marriage and she was the second of seven children born to Phyllis L. (Armstrong) Calhoun and the late Leroy Gary Calhoun on January 22, 1958. To the union of Marion and Willie four children were born, Teekemia Reynolds husband Shavar of Lakehurst, N.J., Raheem S. Howard of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ashaki Howard and Ashanti Howard, both of York; a stepdaughter, Keisha Howard of Atco, N.J. Also to cherish her memories is her mother, Phyllis L. Calhoun of York; a grandmother, Mary L. Armstrong of York; two sisters, (her twin) Mary E. Calhoun of York and Julia D. Sanders of Bowie, Md.; and a stepsister, Charlene Seals of Baltimore, Md.; four brothers, Todd V. Calhoun, Louis T. Calhoun, Gary L. Calhoun, all of York, and Shawn L. Calhoun wife Lonja of Woodbridge, Va.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Annie Mae Howard; an aunt, Mary E. Wright; an uncle, William F. Armstrong. Marion also recognized as a sister, Bonita Hooks of Las Vegas, Nev.; in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family members and friends. Marion was educated through the York City School System and was a William Penn Sr. High School graduate Class of 1976. She continued her education and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Child Care. Marion was a Community Activist and she enjoyed gardening, music and next to her family she loved children. Marion had a passionate and nurturing spirit towards all children and the community knew her as "Mrs. Marion." Marion was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Calhoun; grandson, Juwan Howard; and a godchild, Pierre Solomon. A two hour viewing will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 629 S. Pershing Ave., York, PA 17401, and a Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark K. Kearse officiating and Min. Christopher Woodard, eulogist. Interment will take place in Mt. YORK Tristan "Trick" Ronald Hughes, 28, entered into the presence of God on June 28, 2015. He was the companion of Bridgette Samuel. Born on January 6, 1987, in York, he was the son of Keenan Hughes of New Cumberland and Christopher Ronald Smith of York. He loved sports, especially football and basketball. Trick enjoyed cooking, playing poker, and video games. He was known for his laughter. He leaves to cherish his memory, companion; parents; daughter, Krislynn Hughes; siblings, James Hughes, Jesse Hughes, Soleita Hughes; grandfathers, Raymond J. Hughes, Ronald Kirkland; a host of family and friends. He was preceded by siblings, David Hughes, Christopher Hughes, Tommie Hughes; grandmothers, Joan D. Sides, Gretta Smith. The viewing will be on Monday, July 6, 2015, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the House of Prayer and Worship, 140 W. King St., York, Pa.
