Ackerman, Edith  
YORK Edith Ackerman born July 2, 1924, in Manchester, England; died April 25, 2015, in York, Pa. She was a member of the York SDA church. She was employed by the SDA Church for 30 years as a proofreader at the Review & Herald Publishing Co. and with Home Study International. Edith was a nurse in WWII after which she married Orva Lee Ackerman of Kantner, Pa., in 1950. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda-Jean Lemkelde (PA) and her sister, Brenda Simnett-Pratt (TX). She was preceded in death by her husband, Orva Lee Ackerman (d. 2007) and her infant son, Barry Lee Ackerman (d. 1955).

Allison, Charles H.  
LANCASTER, CA Charles H. Allison, 92, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with the Rev. John C. Dorr, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery, Glen Rock, with military rites performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born July 4, 1922, in York, Charles was the son of the late Harvey and Lillian (Masimore) Allison. Charles was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Air Force. He was employed for many years as an aircraft engineer with several aircraft companies. Charles enjoyed camping and attending air shows. He is survived by nieces, Jane Sides of Florida, Patsy Brumguard of Leader Heights, Barbara Kochenour of Shiloh, Yvonne Sweeney and Kathy Ensor, both of Shrewsbury, and Susan Bernstein of Selinsgrove; and a nephew, Richard Allison of Shrewsbury. Charles was preceded in death by a nephew, Glenn Allison, and a niece, Jane Harteis.

Altland, Charlotte M.  
YORK Charlotte M. (Miller) Altland, 84, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehab Center in York. She was the wife of the late Dempsey Clifford Altland. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with her Pastor, the Rev. Beth Schlegel officiating. A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Born January 20, 1931, in York, Charlotte was a daughter of the late Paul Eugene and Lillie E. (Brenneman) Miller. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in York. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Altland is survived by a stepson, Barry Altland and his wife Jane of York; two brothers, Edward Miller of Coco Beach, Fla. and Wayne Miller and his wife Paula of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Gloria Flaharty of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Miller; and four sisters, Pauline Nickol, Anna Murphy, Hazel Wilt and Dorothy Hawkins. Anderson, Richard F.  
DALLASTOWN Richard (Dick) F. Anderson, Sr., 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Autumn House West. He was the loving husband of the late Mildred D. (Gotwalt) Anderson. Born in Dallastown on June 27, 1918, he was a son of the late Jesse and Sarah (Waltemyer) Anderson. Dick was a farmer on the family farm most of his life and a long time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He also worked for M&T Bank, formerly Dauphin Deposit. He was a loving and friendly man to all who knew him. Dick will be greatly missed. He was noted for his wonderful smile. Dick is survived by his three sons, Richard F. Anderson Jr. and his wife ,JoAnn, Dale E. Anderson and his wife, Jane, Carl L. Anderson and his wife, Susan, all of Dallastown; eight grandchildren, Richard Anderson III and his wife, Sheila, Todd Anderson and his wife, Jackie, Dana Anderson, David Anderson and his wife, Wendy, Tim Anderson and his wife, Apryl, Julie Bowman and her husband, Bill, Travis Anderson, Jason Anderson and his wife, Tracie; twelve great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister. The family would like to thank Autumn House West and Hospice for all they did for Dick. A service to celebrate the life of Richard F. Anderson, Sr. will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Dallastown, 205 W. Main St., Dallastown, with the Rev. Dr. Chris Rodkey officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St. Dallastown, and then again on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Pallbearers will be his eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Dallastown, 205 W. Anderson, Terry E.  
STEWARTSTOWN Terry E. Anderson, 78, passed away on April 27, 2015 at York Hospital. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday May 2, 2015 at Stewartstown Cemetery, Cemetery Ave., Stewartstown, with Pastor Larry W. Parlett officiating. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., Stewartstown, is in charge of arrangements. Terry was born July 1, 1936 in York, son of the late Lawrence R., Sr. and Margaret V. (Little) Anderson. Terry was a life-long member of Stewartstown United Methodist Church, Stewartstown. He was also a graduate of the Easter Seals School, York. He is survived by a brother, Lawrence R. Anderson, Jr.; stepbrother, Kenneth C. Anderson and his wife, Nancy of York; and numerous stepnieces and stepnephews. Andrus, Beverly Ann  
YORK Beverly Ann (Keller) Andrus, 78, entered into rest with her family by her bedside on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at York Hospital. She was born in York on August 12, 1936, and was the daughter of the late G. Samuel and Helen E. (Phillips) Keller. Beverly retired as a secretary from various businesses. She loved spending time with her family and loved her cats. She is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann Miller; two sons, Daniel Phillip Lehman and Mark A. Lehman; five grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Kandie Lehman McDonald, Andria Lehman, Daniel E. Lehman, and Lindsey Lehman; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Rupp, Connor Rupp, Landon Staley, Johna McDonald, Luke McDonald, and Lana Lehman. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and George Keller. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery. Atwater, Josephine  
TAPPAHANNOCK, VA Mrs. Josephine Friedman Atwater, 88, formerly of Glen Rock, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015. "Jo" or "Josie", as she was known to family members and friends, was an avid quilt maker and she made many beautiful quilts for her children and other family members. From 1985 to 2005, while residing in Glen Rock Jo was a dedicated volunteer at the Lutheran Nursing Home and the public library in Shrewsbury. She was also an active member of the Jacobus, PA Lioness Club. Survivors are her husband, Donald E. Atwater; two sons, Andrew W. Atwater (Karen) and Joseph E. Atwater (Linda), all of Westminster, Md.; two daughters, Susan J. Payne (Mark ) of Heathsville and Lou Ann McArtor (Mark) of Colonial Beach; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Atwater of Peoria, Ill. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Thelma Gray and Helen Rizzo. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home Marks Chapel.
