Basilia Montalvo

YORK Basilia Montalvo, 84, died peacefully at home on February 17, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. Born June 14, 1928, in Vega Alta, PR, she was the daughter of the late Emiliano Bruno Davila and Petra Rodriguez Bruno. Bachy, as she was affectionately called, leaves her husband of 65 years, Tomas Montalvo. Also grieving her loss are her three sons, Miguel Angel Montalvo of York, Jose Antonio Montalvo (Ruth) of Hazelton and William Montalvo (Joyce) of York. Additionally, Bachy leaves six sisters and four brothers. She was preceded in death by one sister. Bachy was a grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of seven and had many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bachy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 23, 1963 and served faithfully for over 50 years most recently in the York Spanish Congregation. She was a homemaker and avid Yankees fan. She also enjoyed hours of volunteering in the Bible Teaching work. Her greatest legacy was her love and kindness showed towards all. Bachy was also an outstanding wife and mother; long-suffering and tolerant in every way. She was always giving and self-sacrificing. She will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at the Brandywine Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 932 Church Road, York, PA 17404 on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. Elders Amando Gonzalez and Wayne Jacobs will be officiating. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483. John W. Keffer Funeral Home Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
