Beau E. Smith

WRIGHTSVILLE Beau Ellis Smith passed away on March 30, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care, Lancaster. Beau and Nancy Smith shared 26 wonderful years together. Born February 1, 1939, in Hallam, the son of the late Ellis "Red" and Catherine Reider Smith, Beau was a 1957 graduate of Eastern York High School and a 1961 graduate of York College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Riverside Lodge #503 F.&A.M., Wrightsville, a life member of the Kreutz Creek Valley VFW Post 7045, Hallam and a member of the Abel-Poff-Leithiser American Legion Post 469, Wrightsville. Beau was an avid golfer, playing mostly at Cool Creek Country Club and was an original member of the Par Shooters Golf Group. He was also a loyal Penn State fan. He coached and played baseball for the Susquehanna and Central Baseball Leagues in the 1970s. Beau is survived by Nancy, one daughter, Pamela Harris, two stepsons, Scott and Ted Ebersole and one step daughter, Kim Fossett. 1 granddaughter, 10 step grandchildren and a special friend, "Sassy". He was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Smith. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, Inc., 700 Hellam St., Wrightsville, with the Rev. James R. Copulos officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted by his lodge Thursday at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
