YORK On September 10, 2013, the Lord took home his good and faithful servant, Bruce A. Goyt. Bruce was born on December 16, 1921, the son of the late Hugh and Alta (Berry) Goyt, in Colonial Beach, Va. He attended school in Shippensburg, enlisted in the National Guard Cavalry Unit and proudly served as a ball turret gunner during WWII
. After his honorable discharge from the service, Bruce earned his teaching degree from Shippensburg University. It was there that he met his true love, Joyce, with whom he shared 64 years. Bruce was a teacher in the York Suburban School District. He coached track and wrestling and was a mentor to all his students and co-workers. Bruce is survived by his daughters, Susan Zumbrum, Laura (Kevin) Brown, Emily (Jerry) Shank; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda) McMaster, Matthew Whittington, Jacob Brown, Caleb Brown and Alyssa Shank; and his great-grandchildren, Joel Bruce and Merrill Firestone McMaster. A celebration of his life and memorial serivce will be held at Grace Fellowship church in York New Salem, on September 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:30 Donations can be made in his memory to Wounded Warriors.
