Carl R. Flickinger

YORK Carl R. Flickinger, 84, entered into rest Monday, September 30, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Gladys L. (Myers) Flickinger for 60 years. A visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. at the the funeral home with the Revs. Ron and Sue Oelrich officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with a Flag Folding presentation by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Flickinger was born April 22, 1929, in York, a son of the late George W. and Alma (Heilman) Flickinger. He was a 1947 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Bowen-McLaughlin and BAE Systems and later with Heidler Roofing as Chief Estimator. He was a member of the Victory AA, and VFW Posts 5865 and 8951. Carl is survived by his wife; son, George W. "Skip" Flickinger and his wife, Jamie M. of Baltimore, Md.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Leona; and siblings, George, Jr., Robert A., and Grace L. Flickinger, and Betty J. Miller. Memorial contributions may be made to ., 3544 N.
