Charles E. Green Sr.

YORK Charles Edward Green, Sr. (Slug), 63, entered into rest on Monday, November 19, 2012, at his home. Charles was the loving husband of Jennifer A. (Palmer) Green with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage. He was born in Martinsburg, W.Va., on March 27, 1949, to the late Fulton B. Green and the late Catherine (Sexton) Little. Charles is a 1968 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School. He retired from BAE Systems. While working for BAE he was President of the USWA 7687 Local Retirees. He coached the South York Warriors Little League Football Team for 13 years and was a former member of Brotherly Love Lodge as well as a Past Exalted Ruler. Charles was a member of Bethel AME Church where he sung on the Male Chorus, was part of the Men's Fellowship, Vice Chairman of the Steward Board, served on the Social Action Committee as Chairperson and an Advisor to the Usher Board. Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Jennifer, two sons, Charles E. Green, Jr. of Del., and Chaz A. Green of York; two daughters, Jenae A. Green and Dionne Duncan, both of York; three brothers, Benjamin Green wife Cynthia of Phila., Ernest Little wife Yvonne of York, and Maurice Little of Killeen, Texas; four sisters, Catherine Paige husband Victor of Carlisle, Marcella Johnson, Jewell Glover husband Lee and Sharon Weedon husband Emory, all of York; a stepfather, Ernest Little; five grandchildren, Jahwon Green, Kennidi Randolph, Cameron Green, Nasir Salisbury and Jaishan Matte; three step grandchildren, Roman Heidler, Francisco Neuron, China Bowman; and a host of other family members and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lucious Scott and Jeffrey Green; and a sister, Delores Ray. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday at Bethel AME Church, 356 W. Princess St., York, PA 17401 at 11 a.m. with his pastor Rev. Dr. Katherine E. Rose, officiating. A viewing will be prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Bethel AME Church.
