Charles L. Guise

DOVER Charles L. Guise, 86, entered into rest at 12:34 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Eva E. (Bentzel) Guise who died January 7, 2014. The couple celebrated 64 years of marriage on October 30, 2013. Born June 9, 1927, in Dover, Charles was a son of the late Charles W. and Rose A. (Mitterling) Guise. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Charles retired in 1989 following 16 years of service as an electronics engineer for York International and was previously employed by AMF. Charles was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover, Shiloh American Legion Post 791, and Harbold's Camping Club. He was also a life member of West York VFW. Charles was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed radio control airplane flying. He is survived by two sons, David L. Guise and wife Sharon of Dover, and Michael L. Guise and wife Cheri of Lewisberry; three grandchildren, Mikel and Moriah Guise, and Abigail Runk; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Lucas Runk. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Guise. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Charles' funeral at 1 p.m. and the visitation from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery where veteran's honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. John M. Woods.
