YORK Clyde E. Newcomer, 89, entered into rest after a brief illness at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dolores J. (Leik) Newcomer, who entered into rest on December 19, 2002. He was born in York, on March 27, 1923, and was the son of the late Emory A. and Ioma Newcomer. Mr. Newcomer was an Electrician with the former Borg Warner, retiring after 44 years of service. He was a United States Army
Veteran, serving during WWII
in Germany, where he was a POW. Surviving are two sons, Lonny L. Newcomer of York, and Rick L. Newcomer of York and wife, Marcia; four grandchildren, Chad M., Matthew S., Sara F., and Evan C. Newcomer; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Newcomer of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's U.C.C. in Red Lion, officiating. Burial will be private at Canadochly Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to York County Veterans Honor Guard, c/o John M. Vecero, Jr., 670 Hammond Road, York, PA 17406. Clyde was a very private man who loved to tinker and do things with his hands around the house. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and cherished time spent with his family.
