Dawn M. Hilt

WRIGHTSVILLE Dawn Marie (Weis) Hilt, 75, died on Wednesday unexpectedly at her residence. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Hilt who preceded her in death in 1996. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Mischlich Weis. Dawn was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in 1955 and a graduate of Hagerstown Maryland Medical Secretarial School in 1956. Her employment included working for Dr. John Polcyn and the family practice of Dr. Joseph Steelman and was Medical Secretary in the Operating Room of St. Joseph's Hospital. She later worked for Hollerich Dry Cleaners, Formprest Cleaners and Columbia Cleaners and Formal Wear. She was active in Girl Scouts having her own Brownie Troop and then became the Neighborhood Chairman for Columbia and Wrightsville. She received the Woman of the Year Award from the Wrightsville Jaycees and received many awards for the Girl Scouts. She is a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are two grand-daughters, Staci Henry and Kristi Henry both of Mountville; son-in-law, Vincent Henry of Mountville; and a very special family, Barry and Kendal Ritz; and their two daughters, Anais and Elliston. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Trinity Catholic Church 4th & Cherry Streets Columbia, on Monday, February 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. with the Very Rev. Fr. Kenneth Lawrence as Celebrant. Final Commendation and Farewell will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
