Edna M. Novak

BALTIMORE, MD Edna Marie Novak, 89, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services, in Dallastown. She was the wife of the late William R. Novak, Sr. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The memorial service will begin at 12 noon at the mortuary, with the Rev. Melissa A. McDade officiating. She was born May 6, 1922, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of the late John and Martha C. (Smith) Porter. Edna worked as a waitress from 1958 until she retired at age 70. She was known for her superior baking skills and enjoyed going to the track with her late husband. Edna was fun loving and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Edna is survived by a son, John Russell Novak and his wife, Nancy B. of Spring Grove; daughter, Sharon A. Theusch and her husband, Richard of Osakis, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Linda L. Novak of Spring Grove; sisters, Shirley Stammers and Margie Gray, both of Pasadena, Md., and Delia Wojick of Cambridge, Md.; a brother, Warren Porter of Pasadena, Md.; grandchildren, Michael Novak, Amy Slater, Kelly Shifflett, Heather Rutten, Trisha Janu, Jon Harvey, Mark, Brett, Lisa and Nicole Novak; and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to her late husband and parents, Edna was preceded in death by two sons, William R. Novak, Jr. and Dennis R. Novak. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edna's name may be made to the: , 3544 N. Progress Ave, Ste. 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Edna's family would like to thank everyone at ManorCare Health Services, Dallastown, who cared for her with the utmost compassion and sensitivity.
