YORK Elfie Sarah (Snyder) Mitzel was born October 21, 1917, in Winterstown, to the late May O. (Grove) Snyder and Willard Ray Snyder. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 3, 2012, at The Haven at Springwood, York. A graveside service for Mrs. Mitzel will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Rinely Cemetery at Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Roger Mentzer officiating. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon Saturday at Trinity Life Center, 14 S. Charles St., Dallastown, PA 17313. Elfie had various employers from York Casket Co. in the early 1950's to Dallastown School District as a gymnasium monitor at the Charles Street Gym. She retired in 2007 at the age of ninety. Elfie loved her church, she was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Dallastown, where she was a lay leader, Sunday school teacher, ad member of the Choir. When her membership was transferred to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was warmly welcomed, her appreciation for her church transferred as well. Mrs. Mitzel is survived by two daughters; Deborah E. Clewell and fiancé, Dr. Stephen Schwartz of Flemington, N.J. and Darla A, Holtzapple and her husband George E. Holtzapple, Jr. of Dallastown, three grandchildren; Laurel Peltier and her husband Chris of Amherst, MA, Alissa Stump and her husband David of Dallastown, and Lewis Clewell III and his wife Victoria of Burke, VA., seven great-grandchildren; Sarah and Elijah Peltier, Jared, Haley and Emilee Stump, Jaxon and Reagan Clewell, two sisters; Dorothy Sechrist and Ruth Kreidler both of York, one brother; W. Richard Snyder of Red Lion and many nieces and nephews. Elfie was predeceased by her husband if 54 years, Robert E. Mitzel who passed away in 1993.
