Ellen Marie Boyer

YORK Ellen Marie Boyer, 76, of Springettsbury Township, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Samuel E. Boyer. Born June 22, 1937, in York, a daughter of the late Bernard C. and Ellen J. (Reid) Beck, she was retired from York City School District where she had worked as a cafeteria assistant. She was a graduate of William Penn High School, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Laurel and Vigilant Fire Companies, and also a member of the Firefighters Association of York County. She enjoyed watching the Orioles and Washington Redskins and doing crossword puzzles. Mrs. Boyer is survived by three sisters, Ferna Lorraine Landes, JoAnn E. Brickner and Lucy I. Hostetter, all of York; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Ann Beck. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. W. Arthur Grahe, pastor of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, officiating. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
