Elva M. Stine

SHREWSBURY Elva M. (Taylor) Stine, 82, entered into eternal rest after a lengthy illness at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was the wife of Truman B. Stine, who entered into rest on September 17, 1991. She was born in North Hopewell Twp., on January 23, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Roy B. and Susan M. (Malles) Taylor. Mrs. Stine was a nursing assistant in the newborn nursery at York Hospital, retiring in 1990 after many years of service. Elva was a lifelong and very active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church near Cross Roads. Surviving are five daughters, Sandra J. Grove (James) of Stewartstown, Miriam K. Stine of York, Phyllis M. Hartman (Daniel) of Honey Brook, Iva R. Darlington of Schenectady, N.Y., and Debroah L. Neiman (Christopher) of York; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Taylor of Red Lion; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter at birth, Mary Ann Stine; a son, Willis L. Stine, who entered into rest on April 26, 2007; three brothers; and five sisters. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 8426 Church Road, Felton. The service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with her pastor, the Rev. Randy Cullen, officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Presbyterian Cemetery. Contributions may be offered to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 8426 Church Road, Felton, PA 17322. Elva was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother who always put the needs of others before her own needs. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed spending time with them at family gatherings. She also enjoyed music (singing), crochet, and embroidery, for which she won first place ribbons at the York Fair. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
