Emanuel Johnson Sr.

SCRANTON Emanuel Johnson, Sr. died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Moses Taylor Hospital. Born in York, he was the son of the late Emanuel Johnson and Edna Jackson. A proud United States Veteran; prior to his retirement he was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot for many years. Emanuel relocated to Scranton from Baltimore, Md. in the 1950's. Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing, playing the lottery, going to the horse track, and watching the New York Yankees. He was a kind and gentle man; he was loved and will be missed by all that knew him. Surviving is a son, Emanuel "Butch" Johnson, Scranton; a daughter, Vivian Green, Williamstown, NJ; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Emma Davis and his second wife, Edna Mitchell; a sister, Helen. A blessing Service will be conducted Friday at 7 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Friends may call Friday 5 p.m. until service time. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Baltimore, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Telespond Senior Services, 1200 Saginaw St. Scranton, PA 18505.
