Esther G. Shoup

YORK Esther G. (Eisenberg) Shoup entered into rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 2:42 p.m. at York Hospital at the age of 94. She was the wife of Harry G. Shoup who entered into rest on August 18, 1992. Born in Uniontown on March 2, 1918, the daughter of the late Albert G. and Minnie M. (DeWalt) Eisenberg, Esther was a homemaker; attended Canadochly Lutheran Church; and was a member of AARP. Esther was a wonderful wife to her late husband, Harry. The best Mother to her children and Grandmother. She loved taking care of them and spending time with each of them. She enjoyed shopping, going out to dinner, gardening, and dancing (years ago she did ballet and tap dancing). We love you and will miss you. "Together Forever!" She is survived by three daughters, Cindy L. Stambaugh of Wrightsville, Donna M. Himes and husband Alvin of York, and Kathleen Barger and husband Craig of Colora, Md.; one son, Harry D. Shoup and wife Claudia of Windsor; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Himes in 2002; a great-grandson, Craig Gilley in 2008; and two brothers. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 18th at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion, officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
