Florence M. Hamme

YORK Florence Marie (Hershey) Hamme, 67, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the York Hospital after succumbing to complications from a stroke. Florence was born on September 1, 1945, in the very hospital she died. She was born the only child to Charles Miller Hershey (son of Lewis Hershey and Margaret Miller) and Helen Marie Moul (daughter of Charles C. Moul and Maud Buxton). She entered Nursing school after High School and worked as a health care professional before becoming a full time Mother. Florence later returned to nursing in her later years tending to elderly as a hospice nurse. A devoted Mother and friend to all. She was a member of the Vigilant Fire Company Social Club. Florence was a descendant of Conradt Maul (1723-1783) who worked for the William Penn Family. Conradt Maul did such good work that William Penn granted the Maul Family land in the Pidgeon Hills, now called Moulstown just outside Hanover. She is survived by her husband, Carl Hamme, and leaves behind four children, Charles Kling, James Schlosser, Clair Kling Jr. Melissa Kling, as well as 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by a great-grandson, Benjamin Charles Wolf. Florence will be greatly missed by friends and family. The memorial service will be held at Gladfelter Funeral Home, 822 E. Market St., York on Friday, December 28 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m.
