Dr. Harry B. Davis

YORK Dr. Harry B. Davis, 75, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Lutheran Social Services Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Boothwyn, on June 15, 1937, to the late Ermina Beatrice Barnard Davis and the late John Warren Davis. He graduated from La Salle College in 1958 and from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 1962. He also earned a master's degree in Obstetrical and Gynecological surgery in 1968. Harry was affiliated with PCOM as an attending physician, as well as an assistant professor and vice chairperson of the department of obstetrical and gynecological surgery, until he moved York to open a private practice in 1974. Along with the late Dr. Henry Sagel, Harry worked at Memorial Obstetrical Associates until 1985. He expanded his growing private practice by opening White Rose Ob & Gyn Associates, Inc., with his partner Dr. Anthony Piccolo, in July 1985. He worked at White Rose until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition to his medical pursuits, he was an avid collector of art (in particular the work of P. Buckley Moss and Millicent Neill Decker), as well as antiques, and other collectibles. He was a member of the P. Buckley Moss society. Harry was a member of Advent Lutheran Church. Harry was married for 38 years to Margaret H. Davis, who passed away in September 2000. He and his wife Margaret were the owners of the York Towncrier gift shop for more than 10 years. He was later married to Elizabeth Blair Wolfe Davis, who passed away in October 2009. He is survived by two sons, Brett A. Davis and his wife, Michelle Davis, of Bel Air, Md., and Brian K. Davis and his wife, Leah Tietje-Davis, of Wellsville, Pa.; two grandsons, Ethan G. Davis, and Evan G. Davis, also of Bel Air, Md.; and two sisters, Beatrice Locke of Linwood, Pa., and Eleanor King, of Laurel, Md.; as well as many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and previous patients. A Memorial Service for Harry Davis will be held at Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 East Market St., York on Friday, December 21, 2012, at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. The Rev. David L. Ritterpusch and the Rev. Brenda M. Ritterpusch, his pastors, will officiate. The Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, York, is in charge of arrangements.
