Harry E. Gosnell

YORK Harry E. Gosnell peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home in Melbourne, Fla., with his wife by his side. Harry was the son of Professor J.W. Gosnell and Annie Haas-Gosnell. Born in York on March 30, 1920, Harry worked for, and retired from, the Pennsylvania Railroad. He married Lois G. Keller in 1941 whom he met at a church camp. He often referred to their magical first meeting on a moonlight hike. Together, they had two sons, Stephen and Timothy, both of whom he survived. Harry Gosnell attended church with his wife at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. All aspects of his life exemplified his deep devotion to Christian principles. His forgiveness and benevolence in particular were heroic. Always wearing a smile, and employing his keen brilliance, Harry appreciated the progression and history that help define the intricacies of the world. Harry loved his work, travel, adventure, Ocean City, and Penn State football games. He was extremely reliable and dutifully attentive to the responsibilities that he humbly felt necessary to achieving happiness and success for his entire family. His overt kindness coupled with his quiet heroism continues to inspire all of those who were blessed to know him. Harry is survived by his wife, Lois Keller; his brother, Jim Gosnell of York; his grandchildren, Stephen, Dana, Jason, and Bryan; and great-grandchildren, Vivian, Travis, and Marina. A private graveside ceremony will be held for the family at Mt. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VITAS Hospice, 4450 West Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32934.
