J. Ray Counts Sr.

SEVEN VALLEYS J. Ray "Fuzzy" Counts, Sr., 53, died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Debra A. "Sunshine" (Gemmill) Counts. A covered dish "Celebration of Life" will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, at his home in Seven Valleys. Motorcyclists are invited to participate in "Fuzzy's Farewell Ride" to begin at 12 noon on Saturday, October 27, from Harley Davidson, Gate 2 lower parking lot, York. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, is assisting with arrangements. Born February 23, 1959, in Baltimore, Md., Ray was the son of Nancy L. (Ryan) Counts of Stewartstown and the late James Z. Counts. Ray graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1977. Following graduation, Ray worked with his father as a contractor in construction until his father's death in 2009. He currently worked with his Uncle Joe in Classic Auto Reconstruction. Ray loved classic cars and his Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, going on motorcycle rides on the weekend, and tinkering with his many projects in his shop. He will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. In addition to his loving wife and mother, Mr. Counts is survived by his grandmother, Francis Mays of Hampstead, Md.; five sons, James Ray Counts, Jr. of York, Jesse Lee Counts of New Freedom, JaRod Dane Counts of Seven Valleys, Judd Clayton Lackey of Seven Valleys. and Joshua John Lackey of Red Lion; a brother, Randy Counts of Kentucky; two sisters, Renee Cox of Seven Valleys and Debbie Martinez of Lancaster; and grandchildren, Zoe Lackey, Jesse Counts, Dakota Counts, Maggie Lackey, Dillon Counts. and Jasmin Counts.
