John Ottemiller

YORK John "Jack" Ottemiller, 83, died on Friday, April 5, 2013. Jack was born on March 11, 1930, at York Hospital, to the late C. Free Ottemiller and Marie (Dennes) Ottemiller. He and his brothers, Creston and Joe, grew up on Cottage Avenue. Jack was married twice. His first wife was June Loucks (deceased) and his second wife was Bonnie Watson Ottemiller of Lewes, Del. Jack was a William Penn alumnus, graduating in 1948, and attended Penn State. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Marines in 1954 where he served in Japan. He lived in New York City for a few years in the 1950's where he studied and performed jazz piano. Afterward, he returned to York and worked at the York Art Center, where he became well known as a skilled picture framer. Jack had a love of nature and enjoyed hiking and camping. Jack is survived by his brother, Creston F. Ottemiller; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Ottemiller; and his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Ottemiller and Misty Lehman. A son, Jeffrey Ottemiller, is deceased. Jack is also remembered by his four grandchildren, Stephanie, Dustin, Dylan, and Zeke. A celebration and remembrance service of Jack's life will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York.
