John R. "Bob" Holder

Holder MANCHESTER John R. "Bob" Holder, age 94, passed away at 4:30 a.m., Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Sprenkle Drive in York. He was the loving and devoted husband of Bernice (Roland) Holder whom he married 65 years ago on June 28, 1947. Bob was born January 19, 1918 in Hartford County, Md., the son of the late Luther and Josephine (Orr) Holder. He was a member of the class of 1936 at Manchester High School in Manchester. He retired from York Casket Co. and was previously employed by York Container Corp. He was a member of the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf, Union Fire Company in Manchester and Christ Lutheran Church in Manchester. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. In addition to his wife, Bernice, Bob is survived by his sisters, Renie "Irene" McCulloh and Betty Doll; and nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence, Ray, Francis, Clyde and Fred; and his sisters, Nellie Holder and Gladys Diehl. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Gregory Lindsey.
