Joyce E. Ness

YORK Joyce Elaine (Krebs) Ness, 76, passed away peacefully at the Hospice and Community Care Center in Lancaster on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Clayton Eugene Ness, to whom she was married for 57 years. Joyce was born in Spring Grove, on November 17, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Geraldine (Rinehart) Krebs. She attended West York High School, graduating in 1953. Over the years, she worked in various clerical and accounting positions, for Clair D. Worley & Sons, NCR Corporation, BMY, and Heritage Hills Realty. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and above all, cherished her role as grandma to her grandchildren, Abby and Jordan Ness. Besides cheering for her grandkids at all of their sporting events, she loved the outdoors, enjoyed going to flea markets, and was a devoted Baltimore Orioles and Duke Blue Devils basketball fan. She was also a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stoverstown. In addition to her husband, Clayton, she is survived by two children, Kimberly Ness of York, and Kevin Ness and his wife, Margaret of Lancaster; her two grandchildren, Abby and Jordan; and her brother, Robert J. Krebs and his wife, Charlotte of McDaniel, Md. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold E. Krebs, who died in 1963. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Dr. Bradley H. Dayett officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, interment will be held privately by the family at St. Paul's Union Cemetery in Stoverstown.
