Kathleen Wise

YORK Kathleen (Long) Wise, 90, died on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Wise, to whom she was married for over 20 years, and the late Carl R. Tapp, to whom she was married for over 30 years. Born on July 17, 1922, in Blue Knob, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Alva R. and Mary B. (Stombaugh) Long. Kathleen was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School. She was an owner and operator of Avalong Restaurant until her retirement. Mrs. Wise was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, East York Lioness Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Wise is survived by three daughters, Jane Kirkpatrick and her husband, Philip of Clearwater, Fla., Sharon Tapp of York, and Brenda Chapman and her husband, Dusty of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren, Michael Tapp, Dustin Chapman, Jeff Chapman, Daniel Davila, Robert Bowman, Jessica Catlin, and Catherine Cohen; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Snowberger of York; nieces; and one nephew. A family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Mt. Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mt. Rose Ave., York. A funeral cortege will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. A public memorial service will be held at Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 E Market St., York, at 1 p.m. Following the memorial service, guests will be received for refreshments and remembrance at the Eagles Nest Restaurant, 2519 Mt Rose Ave., York.
