Levere L. Hoffman

HARRISBURG Levere L. Hoffman, 87, formerly of York, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Hue) Hoffman. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born December 11, 1925, in York Twp., a son of the late Sterling and Minnie (Williams) Hoffman, he retired from Mason Dixon Trucking. He had also driven for the former York Snacks Co. Mr. Hoffman was awarded numerous safety awards during his truck driving career. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Mr. Hoffman was a former member of St. Paul's (Wolf's) Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Hoffman is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Hoffman of West York and her companion, Jim Botterbusch of Shiloh; five sons, George and wife Melanie Jane Hoffman of Thomasville, Wayne L. and wife Deb Hoffman of Lancaster, Gary and wife Deb Hoffman of Mt. Wolf, Mark L. and wife Julie Hoffman of West York, and Anthony L. and wife Sharon Hoffman of Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria and husband Ira Keech of Dover. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Becker and Hilda Stough; and a brother, Llewellyn Hoffman.
