Merle G. Resides

HELLAM TWP Merle G. Resides, 87, died at his residence on October 3, 2012. He was the husband of Dora E. (Tice) Resides with whom he observed their 61st wedding anniversary on April 6, 2012. Born December 24, 1924, in Warriors Mark, he was the son of the late George W. and Ida Bell (Davidson) Resides. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired as a molder from I.T.T. Grinnell. Merle was a member of Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church. He participated in horseshoe and bowling leagues into his eighties and was an avid baseball fan. In addition to his wife, Merle is survived by four daughters, Nancy L. Kulman and her husband, Harold of Marietta, Naomi J. Kennedy and her husband, Dr. Peter of Vero Beach, Fla., Norma G. Rollman and her husband, Dave of Dallastown and Nadene K. Noel and her husband, Rusty of York; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna "Sally" Adgate of Wilmington, Del., and Joanne Miller of Bellefonte. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday October 6, 2012, at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with his pastor, the Rev. Marion Haynes-Weller, officiating. A private interment will be held in Kreutz Creek Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
