Michael J. Nuzzi Jr.

STEWARTSTOWN Michael James Nuzzi, Jr., 18, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Born on January 5, 1993 in Charlottesville, Va., he was the son of Michael J. Nuzzi, Sr. of Seven Valleys and Susan E. Gaugler of Stewartstown. A funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Mason-Dixon Baptist Church, 713 Campbell Rd., New Freedom. Pastor Terry Felton will officiate. Viewings will be 6 to 9 p.m. today, and 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Michael was a member of The National Honor Society, and a Senior at Kennard-Dale High School, Fawn Grove, preparing for graduation on June 6. He was an outstanding member of his high school's work release YES program, and in addition to being a high school student, he was also enrolled at Penn State University, York where he recently completed a college semester. Michael was hoping to continue his education at the University of Maryland in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He was employed at TOM'S in Shrewsbury and had also worked for Andy Hill Construction in New Freedom. He attended Mason-Dixon Baptist Church, New Freedom, completed K thru 6 grades at the former Christian School of Southern York County, Shrewsbury, and continued 7th and 8th grades at York Catholic High School. Michael was a student of the PA Cyber School for 9th grade and went on to attend high school at Kennard-Dale. He accepted the invitation from Who's Who Among American High School Students, traveled to Europe as a Student Ambassador, and was involved in the Youth Conservative Program in Washington, D.C., to which only a few students across America are invited. His Senior Project included volunteering for the Harford County Library, Norrisville Branch, in White Hall, Md. Michael was a people person and practical joker, loved cars, enjoyed the challenge of playing Chess and spending time with his friends, and always looked after his sister, Alyssa. In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister, Alyssa N. Nuzzi of Stewartstown; paternal grandparents, Anna Nuzzi of New York, and the late Enrico A. Nuzzi; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Josephine Gaugler of Manheim. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
