Mildred M. Horner

YORK Mildred McCleta (Weaver) Horner, 92, formerly of Broad St. Apts., died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the York Lutheran Home following a brief illness. She was the wife of John W. Horner, Sr., who died on November 11, 1982. They were married 40 years. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 231 S. Beaver St., York. Viewing will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York, is entrusted with arrangements. Mildred was born May 3, 1920, in York, the daughter of the late Jacob Benjamin and Theresa Eva (Hunt) Weaver. She is the last of 12 children: Eulalia M. Kohler, Joseph C. Weaver, George J. Weaver, Cletus Weaver, Rita V. Weaver, Mary M. Weaver, Joseph F. Weaver, Bernadette A. Leiphart, Colette M. D'Addamio, Francis F. Weaver, and Jacob J. Weaver. She retired from Rest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York, on June 14, 1986, following 20 years of service as a dietary technician. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, League of Mary, White Rose Senior Center, and September House. She was the 2006 1st place winner in the WRSC Spelling Bee, York. Mildred went to the Bupp's Union one room school and the Old Springfield Consolidated School of Jacobus, and skipped a grade before completing her education at St. Mary's Catholic School, York. Mrs. Horner is survived by four children, Anna Wagner and David Horner, both of York, Elizabeth Bach and husband, Tan of New Jersey, and Joseph Horner and wife, Cyndi of Dover; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, John W. Horner, Jr. and James D. Horner. KefferFH.com
