RED LION Orpha M. (Smith) Scott, 84, entered into eternal rest after a lengthy illness on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 11:19 a.m. at her residence. She was the wife of Jason F. Scott, Sr. who entered into rest on January 5, 2004. Born in Freysville on October 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. and Bertha E. (Snavely) Smith. She did soldering at the former Bendix, which then became known as Fincor in York, retiring after many years of service. Orpha was a former member of the Red Lion Assembly of God Church for 48 years where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was active in the Missionettes. Surviving are three sons, Robert E. Scott, Sr., and wife Betty of Felton, Jason F. Scott, Jr and companion Curt of Elysburg and John H. Scott of Red Lion; two daughters, Diane E. Yohe of Yoe and Carla L. Koller and husband Keith of Dallastown; 13 grandchildren,; 21 great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Hamilton of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a a son, Creig A. Scott, Sr., who entered into rest on June 25, 1993; a great-great-grandson; and many brothers and sisters. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Judy L. Sawmiller, of Jubilee Outreach Ministries in Red Lion, and Rev. Robert E. Brown, pastor of Grace United Church of Christ in York, officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Orpha's family was her world, she was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She loved the mountains and spending time in Potter County. She will be greatly missed.
