Porgie H. "Patsy" Welk

Welk SHREWSBURY Porgie H. "Patsy" Welk, 73, a longtime resident of White Hall, Md., passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of David "Nick" Welk, Sr., to whom she was married 56 years. A Celebration of Life will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday from J. J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with Pastor Ray Powers officiating. A viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. She was born December 20, 1939, in Cockeysville, Md., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth M. (Hodge) Howard. Patsy enjoyed crafts, painting, and ceramics. She and her husband Nick enjoyed traveling, and camping. They were able to visit all 50 states and camped in 49 of them. Patsy cherished time spent with family, and loved to cook for both her family and her husband's family get togethers. In addition to her husband, Patsy was a loving mother to David Welk, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, and Lawrence Welk and his wife, Lisa, all of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, William Welk and his wife, Tiffani, Sailor Lizz Welk, Operations Specialist, and Jesse Welk; three great-grandchildren, Ricky, Zachary, and Holly Welk. She is also survived by four siblings, Fred Howard, Janet Bond, Julia Engle and Margaet Miller; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
