Regina Berkheimer

Berkheimer YORK Regina A. (Fortney) Berkheimer, 72, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 8:54 a.m. at Memorial Hospital. She was the companion of the late William "Bill" J.B. Liester, Jr. who died on June 1, 2010. There will be no viewing. Following cremation with Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York, a visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. E. Gordon Ross, pastor of St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church in Stewartstown, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Berkheimer was born May 1, 1940, in York, and was the daughter of the late Horace and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Fortney. She was a dock leader for over 25 years with P.A.&S. Small and Schreiber & Fleming Foods, and a member of the Viking A.A., Pleasureville American Legion Post #799, Liberty Social Club, and the White Rose VFW Post #556. Mrs. Berkheimer is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. Peters and her husband Brett of York and Lisa D. Keller of Dallastown and her significant other, Davide Bacile of Italy; a son, Kevin W. Keller of York; seven grandchildren, Rick, Melissa, Brandon, Cody, Tara, Jasmine and Shai; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard E. "Phantom" "Ching" Fortney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Patient Help Fund, c/o York Health Foundation, 912 S. George St., York, PA 17403.
