Robert C. Gentzler

YORK Robert C. Gentzler, 96, of York Township, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty J. (Kadel) Gentzler. Born November 22, 1917, in York, he was a son of the late Mervin A. and Mary V. (Decker) Gentzler. Mr. Gentzler was a graduate of William Penn High School and served on a destroyer in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a self-employed watchmaker and jeweler, and more recently has worked as a security guard for Purolator Corporation. He was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, and in later years was active in the York model sailing club. Mr. Gentzler is survived by a brother, Charles A. Gentzler of York; and two nephews, David B. Gentzler of Lansdale, and George W. Gentzler of Orange, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York, with his Pastor, the Rev. Stanley Reep officiating. A visitation with the family will immediately follow. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 25 W. Springettsbury Avenue, York, PA 17403.
