Robert J. Klunk Sr.

YORK Robert J. Klunk, Sr., 94, died Thursday, December 20, 2012, after a valiant fight with lymphoma. Robert resided with his wife, Virginia E. (Wagman) Klunk, at Country Meadows at Leader Heights. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Holy Saviour Cemetery in York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Klunk was born in Hanover, on June 18, 1918, the son of the late Ambrose J. and Clara F. (Baugher) Klunk. He retired from Baker Perkins where he was the East Coast Regional Sales Manager. He was a graduate of Penn State University, where he received his Engineering Degree, and he served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Mr. Klunk was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in York. He was also a member of the Country Club of York and was an avid golfer. Mr. Klunk was a devoted father and leaves a son, Robert Klunk, Jr. of Arendtsville,; five daughters, Susan Weissenrieder of Estes Park, Colo., Barbara Saulsbury of Mechanicsburg, JoAnn Baublitz of Sparks, Md., Christine Gangeri of Hawthorne, N.J., and Kathleen Mooney of Timonium, Md.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
