YORK Robert William McClellan Miller, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Senior Commons of Powder Mill, York. He was the husband of Dollie L. (Schaeffer) Miller, who died in May 1988. Mr. Miller was born in Warrington Twp., on May 8, 1924, son of the late Paul and Maude (McClellan) Miller. He was a graduate of Dillsburg High School and Franklin and Marshall College. Robert started teaching at Dover High School, and in 1957 began teaching at York Suburban High School until his retirement. In addition, he worked at Danskin, Inc. for 20 years and served three terms as tax collector for West Manchester Twp. Robert served his country honorably during WWII
in the U.S. Army
Air Corps as a pilot in the 98th bomb group stationed in Leece, Italy, and flew the B-24 Liberator. Survivors include two children, Robert William McClellan Miller, II and his wife, Wendy of Red Lion, and Marilyn McClellan Frailey and her husband, Greg of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Samantha N. Miller, Dylan R. Miller, Nathan G. Frailey, and Bryan R. Frailey; and a sister, Rae Zuck and her husband, Jack of York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and James Miller; and five sisters, Margaret Smith, Ruth Gerber, Frances Blausser, Belle Lamparter, and Ida Spangler. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Final resting place will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no viewing or visitation.
