Ronald N. Fidler

HANOVER Ronald N. Fidler, 73, entered into God's eternal care unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jean M. (Hoff) Fidler, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Born August 29, 1940, in North Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Stanley E. and Margarette "Peggy" (MacFarland) Fidler. Ron was a 1958 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover. He worked for Weis Markets, the Hanover Quarry, and the Carroll County Hospital. Most recently Ron worked for the Hanover General Hospital in maintenance and communications. Ron was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America, having served over 60 years in various positions. He was currently a member of Troop 102 in Hanover. Ron served as a Philmont Crew Leader two times, was involved with the National Boy Scouts of America Jamboree Staff five times, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award (highest award for adult from local council). Ron was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hanover. He was a life member of the Parkville Fire Company, was a South Western Band Booster for 10 years, serving as President and Photographer for two years, and a member of the Jefferson Sportsman's Association. In addition to his wife, Jean, Ron is survived by three children, Penny A. Wales and husband, David of York, Kenneth Scott Fidler of Hanover, Stanley R. Fidler and wife, Charlee of Spring Grove; two grandchildren, Stephen and Michelle Wales of York; and two sisters, Avis Beard and husband, Robert, and Marilyn Resh, all of Hanover. Following cremation a service to celebrate and remember Ron's life will be held at a date and time to be announced later. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens.
